About the Lab
In the Leftwich Lab, we study biologically inspired fluid flows, and use what we learn to inspire engineering solutions to a variety of problems.
Biologically inspired flows range from a swimming fish or mammal, to blood and air flow in the human body to wind interacting with a network of leaves on a tree. Through experiments, we predominantly investigate unsteady flows, where the flow velocity, direction, or both are changing throughout. Learn more about our current projects.
